Instructional Strategy for Developing Accurate Sentence Writing
Directions: Read on of the sentences from the student's Lexercise Level aloud and ask the student to write it. Tell the student that you will award 1 point for each correctly spelled word, 1 point for beginning the sentence with a capital and 1 point for ending with punctuation. AND, if no points are lost, then 5 bonus points are awarded for the sentence.
Set a point goal for this activity (e.g. 25 for young or beginning students, 50 for more advanced students) and when the student achieves that goal congratulate his/her hard work. You are done!
